Chrysalis
Chrysalis started in the summer of 2014 when I began experimenting with the use of light sensitive transparency material in the same style as Contact. Over time, I realized the material's shape could be altered via heat and cold, thus I created three dimensional sculptures with the film after they had been exposed.
Sculpturally, these objects take on the form of crinkled leaves or organic shells. However, my interests lie more in specific parts of these objects over the whole, so I photograph these areas on top of a light box with a micro lens. These studies in color, texture and focus merge my current interests in alternative processes with my background in lens-based photography.
